Claude’s position as Worm Project Coordinator goes the whole back to 1960, when he and his wife went to Mexico as missionaries to the Triqui people. When they arrived, there were no doctors, and since they knew the most about modern medicine, they were expected to do something about it. The Goods did assist as they could, and ended up treating people–especially children–for intestinal worms. They returned home in 1985, but Claude returned regularly, visiting and taking pills from the pharmacy. Claude, with the help of Dr. Priscilla Benner, learned how to buy worm medication in bulk, began to offer it to medical teams in various countries–and the Worm Project was born. The project has sent pills to nearly 80 countries, and about a dozen of those have gotten shipments of a million pills.

Claude was born in Spring City, Pa. and is a member of Souderton Mennonite Church. When he’s not at the office, he can be found leading Bible studies and worship at retirement communities, teaching Sunday School, or recording the stories of his time in Mexico. Claude likes to save any quotes that sound like wisdom, and says that he is “very happily, very joyfully busy.”
